Hoarding Workshop

Last month I mentioned I was in Melbourne for a workshop run by Dorothy Breininger who developed the US TV show Hoarders (that's us in the pic). Dorothy covered how complex the show is to produce and highlighted the fact that sometimes we cannot help those in such serious situations. It was very inspiring to meet someone who has such extensive experience and I aim to use her techniques when I help my own hoarding clients. One important tip - reassure the hoarder you are not there to throw anything away. Take a look at Dorothy's interview on 7's Sunrise Show demonstrating how she works with Hoarders and some of her great organising tips here.

If you need some confidential advice or assistance for a family member or friend you may think has hoarding tendencies please contact Domestic Downsizing.

Clearing Clutter At The Feng Shui Conference

I recently presented at the Association of Feng Shui Consultants International Conference on the topic "Clear the Clutter and Unblock the Qi". As a Feng Shui consultant myself, I know how important clutter clearing is in the overall Feng Shui process and I shared many strategies and tips to help the delegates to assist their own clients.

My presentation was based on my eBook "The Essential Guide to Declutter and Organise Your Home" which is available for $5.95 on the new Domestic Downsizing website. Click here for your copy.

Don't forget all proceeds from the eBook go to the China Moon Bears Rescue Challenge with Animals Asia. Good Feng Shui all round!

Olympic Organising Trivia

From Real Simple Magazine in the US: 1 million pieces of sporting equipment were needed for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The supply included 356 pairs of boxing gloves, 510 adjustable hurdles, 600 basketballs, 2,700 soccer balls and 26,400 tennis balls. Whoever had to organise all that deserves a gold medal!

Tossing The Tools? Give Them To Men's Shed!

Do you have any tools lying around the house you no longer use or need?

Why don't you donate them to the Men's Shed?

I just donated my late father's power tools that my husband no longer uses and they were greatly appreciated by all the fellas. They have shed's all over the world (almost 30 in Brisbane alone!)
