Hi

It's been a very busy and rewarding few week since our last Newsletter and we have much to share which we hope will be of interest to you. As the days have taken a sharp turn downwards in temperature my thoughts turn to increasing in my diet warming and nourishing food to ward off the winter bugs and flu's which seem to have been so prevalent this season. A great way to boost your immune system and to fight infection is to make your own nourishing bone broths, just like your mother or grandmother used to! Or maybe you do already.
JANE LINDSAY REGISTERED HOMOEOPATH

If so please share this with your friends and family. If you're not familiar with Bone broth and how to make please see below for an easy way to get started or email me and request "Bone Broth Information Leaflet".

Of course a winter check up with your local Homeopath can also contribute significantly to your overall health and immunity during these winter months. For those able to plan their next 3 follow-ups with Jane and secure dates and times in advance, we are offering, for a limited time, a 20% discount off consultation fee only. Bookings must be made during August / September but can be for appointments taken and paid for up until the end of December 2015. Those of you with children on Homeoprophylaxis programme, we would also encourage to make the 3 monthly check-ups regularly and where possible plan & diarise ahead. This ensures we keep you and your family's health consistently reviewed and have opportunity to discuss your home prescribing in between appointments. Family concessions available for multiple children, please ask.

Whilst overseas at recent Aurum Project Homeopathic seminar, as a group of international Homeopaths we shared much experience, insight  research into a wide variety of health topics, all relevant and useful to our everyday practices as well as the broader issue of global health challenges. Nicola, a Homeopathic GP from India shares her personal experience and insight into VISION, how to maintain health eyesight, some exercises and links to website for further information also contained below. A visit to the Bumi Sehet Safe Birthing Facility was most inspiring, witnessing women having access to medical care during pregnancy, labour and post-partum who otherwise would not be able to access such care. Homeopathy and natural medicine plays an important part in their care provision, donations are always welcome.

We finished our week with an stunning early morning sunrise walk on Mt Batur Volcano, thankfully this one wasn't erupting and we departed Bali a few days before the volcanic ash delayed flights from Denpasar. To the left sunrise on Mt Batur, above top of Batur.

UK: The Queen's Physician calls for more homeopathy on the NHS

The Queen's physician has called for homeopathy to be prescribed alongside traditional medicines saying that NHS doctors need to get over their bias towards complimentary therapies.

Dr Peter Fisher, who is also Clinical Director and Director of Research at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine, said that homeopathy was 'safe', 'popular with patients' and reduced the need for antibiotics.

Speakers at FDA (US) Hearing Praise Success of Homeopathic Regulatory Framework

"Homeopathy is wholly capable of satisfying the therapeutic demands of this age better than any other system or school of medicine." - Charles Frederick Menninger, M.D. founder of the Menninger Clinic

Whilst Australian regulatory authorities still debate whether our medicines are effective and consider withdrawing patient choice here in Australia, in the USA the AAHP has engaged in positive and productive discussions on the regulation of Homeopathic medicine.

Silver Spring, Md. April 20, 2015 - The American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists (AAHP) today told the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that the agency's regulatory policy for homeopathic medicines has worked effectively for the last 25 years to protect the public health and provide consumer access to safe homeopathic medicines. AAHP, the industry's trade association, was joined by other industry leaders, practitioners and consumers of homeopathic medicines to engage in productive discussions with the regulator of homeopathic medicines.

A Research Database and Information for Homeopathy and its use in Veterinary Medicine

Systematic review counters argument of 'no reliable evidence' in veterinary homeopathy 21st October 2014

The first ever systematic review of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in veterinary homeopathy has produced valuable findings that will inform future research in this field. The review was conducted by Dr Robert Mathie, research development adviser for the British Homeopathic Association (BHA), and Dr Jürgen Clausen from the Carstens Foundation, Germany. The article was published on 18 October in the Veterinary Record, the journal of the British Veterinary Association.

The scientists found 18 placebo-controlled RCTs of veterinary homeopathy, published in the peer-reviewed literature, that were eligible for detailed assessment. Two studies were judged to comprise reliable evidence: homeopathy for the prevention of diarrhoea in piglets was shown to be effective.

  Patient Testimonial - Elderly Dog

Dogs love Homeopathic medicine and we appreciate feedback from owners who treat here dogs.

Let me introduce Lucy and her owners recent comments about her elderly arthritic dog who had not responded well to pharmaceutical medicines

"Lucy has being doing really well. She has just finished her 10 days on Rhus Tox. Diet wise, she is eating really well. I am giving both dogs raw meat and some cooked chicken together with chicken stock and puree carrot, zucchini, broccoli and a small teaspoon of mashed pumpkin which is great for settling tummies. Stools have now returned to normal .She has been amazing with getting herself around the house and walking round the block. We have taken her on an extended walk and she did really well. She started taking herself outside to toilet and then jumping up one step back into the house! And yesterday, we found Lucy walking up the external staircase which I might add she hasn't done that for over 6 months. So I feel the Rhus tox is really helping her arthritic pain."

Adrenal fatigue, the stress syndrome of the 21st century

How often do you hear those around you using the s word: stress? "I'm so stressed!"

"I'm stressed out." "I can't go to work. I'm stressed." "I've got a stress headache." "It's just stress." These are statements you hear all the time aren't they? You've probably even said one or two of them yourself. But what do people actually mean when they use this word, stress? Does everyone mean the same thing? These day's I'm increasingly hearing these words in a great majority of teenagers and worrying in younger children too.
JANE LINDSAY REGISTERED HOMOEOPATH

In homeopathy, we are always interested to understand what another person is actually experiencing. Of course, we can only understand by interpreting what we observe from their behaviour, in addition to listening to them explain what their inner experience is using their own words. Homeopathy seeks to support emotionally, physically and mentally. Homeopathy is a great treatment for stress, because we can't, always remove stress from our lives, but when our whole being is working optimally then we cope well, we are resilient and confident and stress can then be a useful tool rather than a limiting, distressing phenomenon. A well chosen remedy can help to achieve this goal.

The greatest epidemic of Western society, next to insulin resistance: is adrenal fatigue, also called burnout. Adrenal fatigue may occur when we are chronically exposed to stress.

So what happens in a stress situation?

Our stress reaction was developed in prehistoric times, when we were subjected to real dangers. For example when a dangerous predator or enemy crossed our path. To survive, we had two options: fight or flee. To enable these, a lot of energy had to be released in as short a time as possible. Raising our blood-glucose levels was our body's response.

The adrenal glands play an important part in this raising of the blood-glucose level in stress situations. After all, the adrenal glands produce the hormones adrenalin and cortisol, which ensure the conversion of glycogen in liver and muscles, and proteins in muscles, into blood glucose as quickly as possible. Next to raising the blood glucose level, cortisol is also the most important anti-inflammatory agent in the body. Which is logical really, because any inflammations or wounds sustained during a fight or flight would reduce our chances of survival.

Recipe For Beef Bone Broth - Leslie Kenton

Ask your organic butcher for cut up meaty beef ribs, marrowbones, shanks and knucklebones 4 pounds or more.

Put them into your slow cooker and add 1/2 cup of cider vinegar to help draw out important nutrients from the bones while they are cooking.

Add 4 to 5 litres of cold water. Let this stand for 45 minutes while you place the meaty bones in a roasting pan in your oven at 350DegreesF or 175DegreesC. Roast them for 30 minutes, turning them twice until they are fully browned.

Add them to your slow cooker. Turn on the slow cooker to high heat until it grows hot, and spoon off any scum from the top. Then turn down the heat to simmer.

Add 3 large yellow onions, chopped after removing the skin. Add 3 to 4 carrots, roughly chopped. Add whatever herbs you have in the garden such as parsley, a bay leaf or two, thyme or what have you. Add 1 tablespoon of ground pepper.

JANE LINDSAY REGISTERED HOMOEOPATH
Cook for 12 to 24 hours with the lid slightly askew, occasionally removing any scum that appears on the top and making sure that the bones stay covered with water. Add more water if needed.

Take out the bones and meat using tongs. Drain the stock through a fine mesh, straining it into a heat proof bowl.

Now you are ready to use it. You can transfer the stock into containers and store in the fridge for five days or keep in the freezer for months. Or you can eat it as soup, or use it in your other cooking whenever you like.

Bone broth making is a lot of fun and it isn't difficult to learn. Start with beef broth and then you can go on to learn how to make bone broth of all different kinds to use in soups, casseroles and your other recipes and teach your children & teenagers whilst they are at home.

Why Mammography Is Unscientific And Harmful - Wednesday, August 28th 2013 Rolf Hefti

In October 2014 one of the largest and longest studies of mammography to date found that mammograms have no impact on breast cancer mortality. A Cochrane Collaboration review also found no evidence that mammography screening has an effect on overall mortality The Swiss Medical Board found mammography appeared to be preventing only one death for every 1,000 women screened, while causing harm to many more. Increasing waist size over 10 years increased the risk of breast cancer by up to 77 percent, according to new research.
JANE LINDSAY REGISTERED HOMOEOPATH

Obesity, including abdominal obesity, is driving up rates of breast cancer, and sugar is driving up rates of obesity; limiting sugar (and grains) in your diet is an important tool for breast cancer prevention.

Getting a mammogram seems like a "no-brainer." The diagnostic test detects, by emitting allegedly harmless ionizing radiation, breast cancer early, thus it prevents the premature demise of the patient. Yet, many solid scientific facts invalidate these, on the surface, seemingly legitimate, highly plausible notions or claims about the value of mammography.
