Season's Greetings to you all

When the hills were bright,
Earth lay sleeping, sleeping calm and still.

In a manger bed,
A boy was born, King of all the world!

Wishing everyone a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous Christmas Season and 2015.

Hi

As another year draws towards its close, for many this is a time of reflection and review of the year past, for others it is a time to look forward to the new. Christmas provides an opportunity to gather with family and friends; for some this is welcome for many this is a time of loneliness - Look out for your neighbours, friends and offer hospitality where you can to those who may need company.

Don't forget your Homeopathic First Aid Kits if you're travelling and if you find yourself overindulging in food and wine, stressed and or exhausted over Christmas see Dr Luc's article for advice on what to take to ensure you enjoy the holiday season to the full.

Read Dr Luc's article here.

See also our article on "Gut" health below - Homeopathy can treat long-term gut issues as well as the acute diarrhoea, vomiting and bloating that sometimes happens as a result of overindulgence or food that has gone off!

Keep safe and enjoy the holiday. This is also a time of giving and if you would like to support a really worthwhile project then do consider a donation to Homeopathy for Health in Africa - see item 2 below for more info and do check out their web-site for love cases of patients in Africa who have responded positively to Homeopathic treatment.

Listen to your gut - What does your gut say?

Often we make statements like: What does my intuition say? How do I really feel about this? Is this right or wrong for me? Is it a good feeling or a bad feeling? What is the Universe saying to me? What does my gut say?

As Homeopaths we hear a lot about the gut. Children and adults may have food allergies, sensitivities to certain foods such as gluten, dairy and peanuts. We hear about leaky gut syndrome, Crohn's Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other digestive issues. And we hear about all sorts of diets to help with our gut.

For people who have gut and digestive issues, this where they manifest symptoms when they are feeling stressed, upset, nervous, anxious, depressed, and emotional. Some of the symptoms experienced are vomiting, diarrhoea, breathing difficulties with food allergies, skin eruptions, anxiousness, burping, passing gas, acid reflux, bad breath, stomach pains, cramping, loss of appetite, eating disorders and more. These symptoms can be very annoying, disruptive, fatiguing, tiring in that here we go again, restrictive, embarrassing, painful, controlling, and maybe even life threatening. They take over a person's life.

Homeopathy can be very helpful for these kinds of gut issues. The homeopath listens, observes, and uncovers what this imbalance and disturbance is for the individual person, along with hearing more about the gut symptoms. With an understanding of all of this information, the homeopath then selects a homeopathic remedy that is similar to the person in their totality. It is remedy for the person, not for the symptoms. Homeopathic remedies stimulate the individual's healing process, and with this healing the disturbance quiets down, and the gut symptoms lessen, till they are no longer a problem.

If you or someone you care about is having on going gut and digestive issues, and have used other medical therapies and/or medications, perhaps it is time to see how homeopathy can be healing for you.

Homeopathy integrated into an Italian health care system

Over the past 15 years a pilot project in Lucca, Italy, assessed how well homeopathy could be integrated into the public health care system.

The just-published results show it was successfully used with, and in some cases replaced, conventional medicine. The research into its effectiveness, and the effectiveness of other complementary therapies, involved allergies, respiratory diseases, side effects of anticancer treatments, overall cost-effectiveness, and risk management.

Homeopathy Study: Arnica just as good as Ibuprofen for osteoarthritis of hands

Do you worry about the risks of using Ibuprofen for your arthritic hands? Homeopathy may help.

In this study, researchers compared the effects of Ibuprofen and Arnica across 204 people, and found they had similar benefits ... and side effects.

Good news for arthritis sufferers, but why the side effects? Isn't homeopathy meant to be safe?

JANE LINDSAY HOMEOPATHY - ARNICA JUST AS GOOD AS IBUPROFEN
Yes, but only in potentised form. In this study, the Arnica was applied as a tincture rather than in potency. Potentisation - the process of repeatedly diluting and agitating a substance - makes a safe and more effective medicine; the stages of dilution remove the harmful chemicals while the agitations strengthen the substance's therapeutic effect. If the researchers had used potentised Arnica and only gave the remedy to those with true Arnica symptoms (differing symptoms need different remedies) the results would be much more positive.

'Homeopathy CAN cure Ebola' says latest DM headline

Read the Daily Mail's article in which they report the experiences of medical homeopaths who travelled to Liberia to help with the Ebola crisis, and discuss the claim that WHO "torpedoed" their efforts treat Ebola virus patients with homeopathy. While the UK Daily Mail is often criticised for its sensational stories, and though it clearly has a limited understanding of homeopathy, we think they've tried to provide a balanced report from the available evidence - and they're the only news service doing so. The silence from WHO about this missed opportunity for testing homeopathy against Ebola virus disease is deafening.

Once again, it's hard to imagine that anyone would refuse harmless free medicine to dying people ... but that's exactly what's happening.

Homeopathic healing: The stars who swear by alternative medicine

Team GB sprinter James Ellington uses homeopathic remedy Bellis Perennis to overcome exertion during training.

While many don't believe it even works, more than 10 million people in the UK swear by homeopathy.

The healing benefits of alternative medicines are believed to have been known for 2,000 years and they have been available on the NHS since its formation in 1948.

Many celebrities and top athletes have a homeopath on speed dial and here some of them share their stories of how they feel alternative medicines have boosted their health:

James Ellington, Team GB sprinter, 26

My health is my top priority, from eating a balanced diet to the types of medicine I use.

Training six times a week is incredibly demanding and it's more important than ever to keep my body in the best possible condition.

Homeopathy offers me a positive and natural way to prevent sporting ailments such as exertion, muscular pain and aching joints, without any residual effects on my performance.

I use remedies such as Ruta grav, which helps treat sprained ligaments, Gelsemium for pre-race jitters, Arnica for bruising and Bellis perennis to treat exertion.

They all offer athletes a natural alternative to traditional and sometimes harmful medicines.
