While you are enjoying this month's newsletter, I am in Melbourne attending a workshop on hoarding, presented by Dorothy Breininger one of the professional organisers from the TV show Hoarders. Dorothy will cover how the show started, how she prepares to meet her extreme hoarding clients (mentally and physically) and will explain what goes on behind the scenes. As I help the chronically disorganised here in Brisbane, this will be quite an enlightening workshop for me, so stay tuned next month when I will share what I have learnt.

Plus it's that dreaded time of the year again - tax time! But it needn't be such a chore; all it takes is a little preparation starting now that will make 2013 a breeze. Read my 7 steps below.

Untidy... Yet Organised!

Still on the topic of home office organisation, I recently read this blog post from and it resonated so well with me (even though I am a professional organiser) that I just had to share it. It just proves my point - your home doesn't have to look like the pages out of Vogue to be organised - as long as it works for you!

"Every few months I succumb to an urge to transform my home office into a museum exhibit. I spent hours arranging my office and finding a home for everything. Within a week, the piles returned, as did the guilt. Clearly, I'm not one of those tidy, on-top-of-things people". [Read more]

Feng Shui For Financials

Everybody would like a little bit more money in their bank accounts (especially at tax time) and there are many ways that Feng Shui can help. One of the easiest ways is to look after the money you already have. Always keep your wallet in good condition and well organised with only the cards and receipts you actually need inside. (Purple is a good wallet colour for wealth). Be sure to keep all of your financials well organised, pay your bills on time and keep your accounts balanced. These little actions will all create positive energy. Easy peasy!

Organising Tip For The Month

Save time, petrol and parking fees and run all your errands in one go. Make a list of where you need to go (the bank, the post office, the drycleaners, petrol etc) and hit the road. You can usually have everything done in a few hours leaving yourself more time to spend more time at home with the family. Make sure you squeeze in some time for a quick latte.

Sad But True...

From Real Simple Magazine in the US: 45% of women who have spouses with the same - or higher - household standards refuse to give them control over organising and decluttering. Hmm...sounds like it's time to let go of the reins girls and delegate some of those chores!
