World Film Premiere Exposes Australian Research Scandal

New investigation and complaint against top Government agency

A NEW documentary has brought Australia's scientific research community under international scrutiny with a premiere in London overnight. (April 6, 2017)

The film, Just One Drop, reveals Australia's National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is accused of bias and misleading the public over a damning report into the effectiveness of homeopathy in 2015.

The film shows never before seen evidence and examines the findings of a rigorous two year Australia/UK investigation which reveals the NHMRC used "unprecedented" scientific methods and had multiple conflicts of interest.

A formal complaint against the NHMRC is now before the Australian Ombudsman detailing procedural and research flaws, conflicts of interest, and reporting inaccuracies.

In an Executive Summary of the complaint it concludes the NHMRC's findings are "inaccurate, highly misleading to the public and unjustly damaging to the credibility of the homeopathy sector".

One of Australia's top health lawyers, Dr Teresa Nicoletti of law firm Mills Oakley provided independent written advice raising concerns about the NHMRC's apparent bias, conflicts and flawed procedure surrounding the review.

Gerry Dendrinos of the Australian Homeopathic Association (AHA) was involved in the investigation and features in the film.

Support for Homeopathy in Switzerland

In case you haven't heard we're telling you again because it's so important. Thank you the Aurum Project for this latest update.

In Switzerland, the support for homeopathy has been so strong that two-thirds of Swiss have backed its inclusion on the constitutional list of paid health services.

HOMEOPATHY IN SWITZERLAND
This means that homeopathic treatments are now covered by basic compulsory insurance. Interior Minister, Didier Burkhalter has agreed that it is "impossible to provide proof for these disciplines in their entirety" and reimbursements of treatment costs should be made via compulsory health insurance, provided certified medical doctors administer them.

The government's proposal also includes provisions to increase research and training in the field. Hansueli Albonico, president of the Union of Associations of Swiss Physicians for Complementary Medicine, noted that practitioners were "confident" in the outcome based on enough "solid facts from existing scientific studies".

No such thing as false Hope

From the insight Space - Ian Watson.

Ian was one of
our Homeopathic teachers in the UK , his insight into human healing & his respect for Dr Edward Bach, bacteriologist, physician & Homeopath has always resonated with me & I thought to share Ian's latest newsletter & link to his website & resources.

HOPE
"Whilst still a teenager I chanced upon the writings of Dr Edward Bach, a Harley Street physician who gave up a lucrative career in the early 1900's to follow his inner wisdom. His journey led him to develop the Bach Flower Remedies, which are now known and used worldwide for their gentle healing properties.

I can recall with absolute clarity reading the following words in one Dr Bach's little booklets: "There is no true healing unless there is a change in outlook and peace of mind". Somehow, around forty years ago, those words spoke to me in a powerful way, and they have continued to inspire me to this day.

Through my own lifelong interest in the field of natural health and, in particular, mental and emotional well-being, I came to see that Dr Bach had a profound understanding of the healing process and what it entails. He realized, way ahead of his time, that a person's state of mind was paramount, and that to lift a person's spirits and inspire hope was one of the most powerful healing services anyone could provide for someone who was suffering."

If you'd like to learn more, whether for yourself, your loved ones or clients, I hope you'll join me at one of my upcoming events, or take a look at the Resources page of the website where you will find some recorded materials freely available. Find out more here.

More News from the UK

Homeopathy and the NHS - 29 March 2017
From The house of Commons - David Tredinnick (Bosworth) (Con)

"This debate has come about for two reasons. The first is the attacks on the long-established national health service homeopathic service. Secondly, we are approaching a very happy moment, Homeopathy Awareness Week, when the homeopathic community comes together to tell people about what it can offer in providing support to doctors and alternatives where other treatments have not worked.
MORE NEWS FROM THE UK

Homeopathy Awareness Week takes place from 10 to 16 April in a celebration of homeopathy: a safe, gentle, natural system of medicine that I have used for 30 years to great effect. In the UK, it might surprise people to hear that 15% of our population already use homeopathy and a further 80% have heard about it. Many people are not sure what makes it different from other medical systems. The week aims to get people to have a better understanding. A lot of events have been organised, including the film premiere of "Just One Drop".

To put things in a global perspective, some 450 million people use homeopathy each year. If homeopathy did not work, why would so many people choose to use it and carry on using it? It is a global medical system, the second largest medical system in the world, and is used particularly in very poor communities, which I will come on to.
