New Principals

We are recognizing the experience and expertise of Logan Meehan from our Gold Coast office, and Tim Small from Grafton by promoting them to Principal, effective 1 July 2011. Logan has over nine years experience in audit and assurance, working across a wide range of clients around the Gold Coast areas as well as in Canberra. Tim is a Business Services Principal for the Clarence areas (Grafton and Yamba) and has been with WHK for over seven years. We wish Tim and Logan all the best in their new role.

Carbon Tax and Agriculture


Direct agricultural emissions will be excluded from the proposed carbon price mechanism, meaning farms won't be required to pay for greenhouse gas emissions generated by on-farm activities.

Raising Financially Savvy Children


The Australian classic 'A Fortunate Life' by Albert Facey should be compulsory reading for children and parents. Born in 1894, Albert was supporting himself at the age of 9 years, working from dawn to dusk on a property in Western Australia. Without any opportunity for formal education - he taught himself to read and write. At the age of 20, when he enlisted in the army, he was financially independent and mature beyond his years.

Thankfully, our children have the automatic right to an education. Times have changed to the point though that we often struggle to teach them the value of money and that it doesn't grow on trees!
