Rob Molhoek & Juice 107.3 - Flood Response Convoy

Help on the ground.

Gold Coast local radio station Juice 107.3 and Councillor Rob Molhoek have proposed that Gold Coast residents get involved in directly helping flood-affected residents of Brisbane and Ipswich, and the surrounding areas, by donating non-perishable food, blankets, pillows, toiletries etc.

To facilitate this they have jointly set up a Flood Response Convoy. This convoy is aiming to have local volunteers meet at Helensvale Baptist Church, where they will be loading up their cars and directed to the address to deliver them, this could be to a Community Centre, Church, or personal residence. The aim is to then also have people helping with the clean up by matching Gold Coasters with a Brisbane/Ipswich (and surrounding areas) home that needs help.

How can you help?

  • Monetary donations can be made here. The money donated will be used to buy food etc that will be delivered on Monday.

  • Drop off non-perishable food, toiletries, cleaning products, pillows, blankets etc to;
    Helensvale Baptist Church
    Discovery Drive, Helensvale
    Between 3pm and 7pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And after 7am Monday.

  • Drive donations to pre-arranged drop off areas in Brisbane and Ipswich on Monday. Turn up to the Helensvale Baptist Church on Monday after 8am. Be sure to wear closed in shoes, and if you are planning on helping with the clean up, bring gloves and cleaning products. Also insect repellent as there is a Dengue Fever warning currently in flood affected areas.

  • Contact Juice 107.3 on 07) 55 71 07 38 if you would like to help in some other way, such as logistical planning, taking phone enquiries, etc.

SPP and QLD Government Donations

Steve Parish Publishing

If you aren't able to help in any of the above ways then I have another suggestion for you. A client of Profitune is Steve Parish Publishing, and we have heard that Steve has suffered a great loss through the flooding of his business, whereby countless archived photo stock has been irrevocably damaged. These photos are the culmination of a lifetime of photographing this beautiful and often harsh country of ours, and each photo is a loving story of one man's dedication to the natural environment. So what I am proposing you might like to do is this, if you happen to be near a bookshop or newsagents in the near future, look out for some of Steve's books and pick out one that appeals to you. You can either keep it for yourself or give it as a gift to someone. One book that is highly-recommended by the team at Profitune Head Office is 'Steve Parish: 50 Years Photographing Australia'

QLD Government Donations

If you would like to look further into donating the QLD Government has set up a page that is very informative, it also has links to a Scam Watch site to ensure that no-one takes advantage of people's generosity and kindness at this time of need. Check it out here.
